Detective Bureau

The Portage Police Department Detective Bureau is under the direction of Detective Major Joe Reynolds The Bureau is comprised of nine investigators that have decades of investigative experience and training. The Bureau has a polygraph investigator and voice stress analyzer investigators.

Pertinent information about the Detective Bureau includes:

• The Detective Bureau specializes in many different areas, some of which include hostage negotiation and crime scene analysis.
• The Detective Bureau investigates all assigned crimes against persons and property.
• The Detective Bureau's day to day operations include general assignments, combating juvenile delinquency, drug enforcement, intelligence gathering and investigating criminal activity.
• The Detective Bureau retains a close relationship with the Portage Township School System and attempts to stay abreast of juvenile concerns when they arise.
