This year’s theme is “Salute to American Heroes.”

Parade&Fest Instructions 2018

Dear Participant:
James E. Snyder, Mayor of the City of Portage, cordially invites you to participate in our annual Fourth of July Celebration. This year’s celebration will consist of the traditional parade starting at 11:30 a.m., the Fourth of July Festival from 5:00 to 9:30 p.m., with live music from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and the fireworks display at dusk.

The Parade:
Date: Wednesday, July 4, 2018 Lineup at 9:30 a.m. Parade Starts at 11:30 a.m.
Entry Fee: $25.00 Flat Fee  (see registration link above)
This year, the parade will assemble in the parking lot of Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church. Lineup will begin at 9:30 a.m. No one will be permitted in the lot prior to that time, and no vehicles other than parade floats will be permitted within the assembly area.
The parade route will start at Nativity Church and head North down Willowcreek Road to Central Avenue, and then will head East down Central to end at the Portage Mall. The judges’ stand will be in front of City Hall on Central Avenue. If your group will be performing for the judges, the performance must be limited to two minutes or less in order to provide adequate timing for all participants. Any candy must be handed not thrown, and the use of water guns, balloons, hoses, etc., is strictly prohibited along the parade route.
PARADE VEHICLES:  Lineup will start at 9:30 a.m. No vehicles will be allowed in the lot prior to that time. Vehicles will enter Nativity parking lot from the furthest north entrance on Willowcreek Road. A lineup number will be provided to you upon check-in. Please affix it to the lower right-hand corner of your windshield so you are announced and judged properly.
DROP OFFS: Parents, please drop your children off NO EARLIER than 10:30 a.m. The drop-off area is on Sunrise Avenue at the opening in the fence.  ***THERE ARE ABSOLUTELY NO DROP-OFFS ON WILLOWCREEK ROAD– PER PORTAGE POLICE DEPARTMENT.

The Festival at Founders Square:
Date: Wednesday, July 4, 2018 5:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Live music from 6:30 to 9:30pm, and the Fireworks at Dusk
Please complete the appropriate forms and return with your payment to: Portage Parks Department, 2100 Willowcreek Road, Portage, IN 46368. All entries must be received by Wednesday, June 27, 2018. We reserve the right to refuse late entries. Checks should be made payable to the Portage Parks Department.
