This 57-acre park site was developed on the former National Steel property providing access to Lake Michigan and the Burns Waterway. Opened officially in November 2008, this park is the result of a collaborative effort between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. National Park Service / Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, and the City of Portage. The parkland is owned by the U.S. National Park Service as part of the National Lakeshore and is managed by the Portage Parks and Recreation Department. The Lakefront is open daily from 6 am until 11 pm. The riverwalk has stair access from the south parking area and trail access from the north parking area. The Pavillion is open throughout the summer for bathroom access the concession is open during the summer months as well. Pavilion Rentals

You can now rent the Pavilion Classroom for baby and bridal showers, business meetings, anniversary gatherings, and wedding ceremonies.
